Yellow Foliage

If your tree's leaves are turning yellow, two possibilities exist. Yellowed foliage can indicate lack of fertilizer, or overwatering to the point that the root tips are rotting and are not taking up nutrients. Cut back on watering to recommended rates, and be sure to fertilize appropriately.

That said, some yellowing and drop of interior leaves is normal for lemon trees. If your lemon tree gets too leggy, prune back some of the branches significantly. New branches will form where you cut.
